Skorpios Technologies to hire 300 with New Mexico expansion
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funding totaling $7 million will help develop Skorpios Technologies infrastructure at its Albuquerque facility over the next few years allowing for expansion in research and development, testing and assembly operations, and creating up to 300 jobs.
Both high-tech engineering and manufacturing jobs will be created with an expected average annual salary of more than $60,000. Some jobs may pay a salary of up to $150,000.
Skorpios Technologies is a company which developed its own wafer-scale silicon photonics process, a proprietary technology for fabless semiconductors used in various applications ranging from high-speed video to cloud computing and storage. The company’s products are used in networking, telecommunications, and cable television.
LEDA funding was granted to help with recruitment and retention of high tech jobs in New Mexico, according to a release issued by the office of Gov. Susana Martinez.
