VSP Mobile Eyes focusing on the future in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Mobile vision care business VSP Mobile Eyes hopes to open the eyes of students by exposing them to careers in optometry. Forty students of Albuquerque’s Health Leadership High School assisted in eye exams and services for 115 patients at a health fair event last week.

The partnership between VSP Mobile Eyes and the high school was created to inform and educate youth about job skills and a new career path while providing area residents with eye care at no cost.

Five students have expressed interest in a career in optometry as a result of the partnership, and the collaboration is expected to continue for at least another year. New Mexico is the state with the fourth-highest average annual wage for optometrists at $142,900.

VSP Mobile Eyes is a division of vision benefits company VSP Global, based in Rancho Cordova, California.
